This product is based on our signature denim and features embroidery inspired by traditional Japanese techniques, depicting the nostalgic beauty of Japan’s original landscapes.
Our denim jacket differs from conventional designs, construction methods, and patterns. It features an elegant pointed collar with a clean, shirt-like roll, giving it a refined appearance. Additional original details include large pockets placed on the lining and selvedge gussets at the cuffs, incorporating thoughtful and distinctive craftsmanship throughout.
12.4oz OLD JOE Original Denim
Made with meticulous attention to the yarn itself, this original denim expresses a unique bulkiness with a rustic nep texture. It is produced in Ibara, a renowned denim production region in Japan. The warp yarn uses strongly slubbed, nep-textured threads dyed in a deep, dark indigo, while the weft yarn is made from carefully selected cotton with a slightly beige tone, tightly twisted to enhance durability and texture.
The fabric starts in its raw woven state, known as “kibata,” and undergoes only a specialized sanforization (anti-shrink) process. Unlike typical methods, this does not result in the stiff, glue-coated texture associated with rigid denim, but instead achieves a softer feel.
With its rich texture, deep color, and substantial hand feel, as well as comfort during wear and carefully considered yarn composition, this original denim embodies OLD JOE’s distinctive balance of primitive character and modern presence.
