Freewheelers Teufelhund Gemsa Shirt

FREEWHEELERS

$325.00

The fabric is made from original cotton karsey (cotton cavalry twill), woven with hard-twisted yarn to create a dense, substantial structure with a firm hand. The surface has been carefully singed to remove excess fuzz, enhancing the clarity of the weave while maintaining a smooth, non-abrasive feel.

Design details include a traditional chin strap, asymmetrical chest pockets with one side featuring a double-layer construction, gusseted side slits for durability, and a union label placed inside the placket.

This custom model features special printed artwork inspired by “TEUFELHUND” of Marine Scout-Bomber Squadron 932, said to have operated in the South Pacific in 1944. “Teufelhund,” meaning “Devil Dog” in German, became a well-known nickname for the U.S. Marines, reportedly given by German soldiers who feared their tenacity in battle.

The graphic depicts a bulldog — a long-standing symbol of the United States Marine Corps — rendered with two horns to emphasize the “Devil Dog” identity. The front is executed in discharge print for a soft, integrated finish, while the back combines airbrush and discharge techniques for depth and character.
