Freewheelers "Teufelhund" N-1 Deck Jacket
Model #2531002 / Color : Dark Khaki Beige / Made in Japan
Introducing the N-1 Deck Jacket from Freewheelers, inspired by U.S. Navy jackets from the 1940s. This model follows early–generation details, including full alpaca-wool lining down to the cuffs, underarm loops, small eyelets at the underarm and hem drawcord, and the distinctive early sleeve-stitch construction.
The outer shell is the brand’s original Jungle Cloth, a very thick, tightly woven fabric with a paraffin coating, presented here in dark khaki beige. Inside, a custom-blended 70% wool / 30% alpaca lining is combined with a layer of cotton flannel between the shell and lining, creating a warm, wind-resistant three-layer structure. The collar is alpaca-pile with a stowable chin strap. The front uses a 1940s-style zipper with urea buttons, and the jacket features hand-warmer pockets and an internal rib cuff.
This piece is a custom model, based on the idea of a Navy jacket later repurposed by the Marine Corps. It features a “USN” stencil with an airbrushed USMC emblem, plus a rear “US MARINE” overprint and bulldog graphic. On the chest is a locally-made-style felt patch for Marine Scout Bombing Squadron 932 “TEUFELHUND” (“devil dog”), active in the South Pacific around 1944.
Freewheelers reimagines the N-1 with their signature heavy materials and early-period details, creating a deck jacket rich in character, customization, and historical storytelling.
