Old Joe Round-Collar Motoring Jacket
A new Harrington-style short jacket, reimagined with vintage design sensibilities. The collar, originally conceived as a dust guard, has a unique shape that adds character. Thoughtfully oversized sleeves with underarm gussets and pockets that offer direct access to the lining highlight the jacket’s utilitarian yet classic construction. These details echo a bygone era, seamlessly blended into a modern silhouette.
The fabric is a specially developed summer tweed, woven with depth and texture. It uses a custom-spun yarn made from a blend of linen sourced from Normandy, France, and slub yarns. By twisting natural linen top yarns with raw, uneven slub threads, the fabric takes on a richly nuanced expression.
Two original herringbone weaves were created exclusively for this piece:
-
"Irregular Herringbone", which incorporates alternate weave structures within the herringbone
The natural inconsistencies of the slub yarn and linen—like neps and knots—contribute to the fabric’s organic charm and intentional design expression. The result is a sophisticated, textural jacket with a quiet yet distinct presence.
