Freewheelers Wildlife Ranger Jacket
Inspired by the outdoor garments of the 1970s and beyond, the Wildlife Ranger Jacket pays homage to the uniforms worn by rangers and conservation officers who worked to protect wildlife and the environment.
This piece is crafted from Master Shield, a high-density cotton fabric woven with exceptional precision. Both the warp and weft threads are densely packed to the limit, offering not only excellent water repellency but also outstanding breathability and moisture permeability.
The fabric itself features yarn-dyed threads, with olive on the warp and orange on the weft, resulting in a unique khaki-olive hue with a subtle iridescent sheen, reminiscent of a beetle’s shell or chameleon skin.
Designed with a roomy silhouette, the jacket features raglan sleeves with a generous cut through the arms for freedom of movement. A strap detail is tucked beneath the oversized collar, adding a functional and visual accent.
The chest pockets follow an asymmetrical layout—a vertical pocket on the right and a gusseted, angled flap pocket on the left. The waist pockets draw inspiration from vintage hunting jackets, combining hand-warmer openings and lower flap pockets into a single, distinctive design.
Additional functional elements include:
-
Cuffed sleeves with slits for ventilation and mobility
-
Adjustable drawcord hem to cinch in wind or lock in warmth
-
BUBO-engraved nut buttons, adding a classic, rugged character
-
GREAT LAKES late-period name tag, subtly nodding to Freewheelers’ archival approach
This jacket embodies a balance of rugged performance and vintage outdoor aesthetics, ideal for those who appreciate craftsmanship, history, and thoughtful design.
